New Blog

Blogger started to piss me off a couple of months ago. After using all of Flickr Pro's easy-to-use customization tools, I didn't understand why Blogger hadn't done the same thing. I started exploring a bit, and found a new blog-hosting tool. The new Outsourced blog can be found here www.nickmoles.wordpress.com This old Blogger site should remain if anyone (read:me) needs to access the archives. All new posts will go to the new site.

bah

So apparently there will be no more laptops, ipods or even magazines on those ten hour flights to the US. The overall effect of terrorism on me is to 1)make me bored on long flights, and 2) make me intensely dislike pakistan, saudi arabia, et al. The weirdest thing about this list of people is how young they are, most born after '80. Shouldn't they be chasing girls, drinking beer, and studying the history of ancient rome? Why are they trying to kill people? As a member of the over-liberalized generation of american schoolchildren, whose overall educational message was one of tolerance, it's strange to feel absolutely no empathy for these guys. none.

Mingling amongst the Magyars

Sometime around Tuesday, while staring blankly at a spreadsheet, I started contemplating what the weekend's activities would consist of. Drinking? probably. Traveling? maybe. Television viewing? absolutey.

But luckily Jana had a dynamite proposition. I could tag along on a business trip! By 'business trip', she meant free hotel room and expensed dinners, so I joined this escapade immediately.

The capital of the Magyars is a wonderful city, grander than Prague, more cosmopolitan than Krakow, and much less boring than Vienna. But I didn't do any sightseeing. I confined my activities to soaking on Budapest's baths (actually just one bath in Budapest...twice).

As a side, I visited the Hungarian town of Esztergom, where I walked around a cathedral for an hour. Or, as Jana vividly remembers, walked up about 1000 steps to the summit of the basilica, where we got an excellent view of the beautiful communist apartment blocks of Slovakia.

And then we went to the local baths.

Overall, an excellent weekend. Upgrated from just a good weekend by the fact that I didn't pay for three quarters of it.

As those wily magyars say, 'szia'

A conversation in the office

Me: (searching kitchen for coffee bags) Some random Czech Guy: I don't think there are any more coffee bags Me: Hm... (continue searching) Czech Guy: Maybe you will have espresso (holds up espresso bag) Me: No thank you, I'm not Italian. Czech Guy: Yeah, this stuff makes you shake like an expensive dog Me: (nods in agreement)
